Farm Fest one day, Streets of NY the next.

My first trip to the big apple :)   One day I was shooting the Farm Fest of  Yamhill County, Oregon.  The next I was walking the streets of Manhattan.  Wow!  What a vast difference in cultures and  how quickly one can get there.  Here is a what I saw.

My little town….

For the past years a major goal  has been to publish a book giving an intimate view of rural America.  So much of what is America is the small town, the back roads off the freeway path.  That is where the same cry of past generations can be heard again, that this life is changing and leaving us.  It is, and it will.  That is why the pictures of the likes of Robert Frank, Russel Lee, Dorthea Lange are such a treasure.  I would like to do a part in giving voice to this side of our country.  My little town is where I have always lived and hope to remain.

Time for fine art….

The new year is on us, a month already gone.  Last year was a phenomenal year and I give thanks for that.  November and December were spent in shows and in teaching art at the elementary level.  I had forgotten what it was like to get the greetings and hugs from the little folk of this world.  And nothing could be better then seeing the lights go on in their faces when they learn they CAN DRAW!  It was an intro to the European masters.

We just want to have fun….

While shooting people, whether weddings or portrait the bottom line is to have fun.  So after and in between the ‘no smile’ shot we just have a good time!

where two shall come together…

Another truly wonderful day!!  Regardless of the 95 degree temp, the family and friends the gathered to celebrate this special day for Dane and Lindsey made it a favorite for all who attended!  It is these unexpected moments that I love to capture and hold.  With much much gratitude to you both!

The unexpected moments are the best, showing the true beauty of the day.

My daughter has been with me for the past 5 weddings.  She is in “training”, carrying my equipment, doing the quick change of the lenses when needed, carrying and not loosing the memory cards.  After the ceremony she gets to shoot the crowd.  Here is a great example of life through the eyes of a 14 year old.  You gotta love it!!
